April Communion 2011, Mother's Day and Cake Sale

The morning of Sunday 3rd April was a busy one for St Columba's Church. Firstly it was our quarterly Communion Service and here are the Elements we use, laid out on the Transept table prior to being taken into the Church. 88 people took Communion that morning.

However it was also "Mothering Sunday" and, at the completion of the Communion Serv
ice, members of our Sunday School (known locally as the J.a.M. club) met their mothers and other lady members of the Church with flowers and packets of pot-pouri.

Then, there was a Cake Sale in aid of the Red Cross Japanese Disaster Appeal. (One of the ladies in the congregation is Japanese)
The two pictures below show the cakes before the sale started.

Then the hordes arrived.

And in no time at all, very little was left and £232-50 was raised for the Appeal.
